This blog has been created by and for the Kinast Family. As we begin to grow and branch out, we thought it might be fun to create a place where we could learn and share about one another. In this blog, you will hear stories about funny situations we have been in, current status on family, things that have helped us to grow as people and other positive impacts that we have each experienced in our lives. So, sit back, take a few moments to relax, and learn about those you love who will always love and support you in your life...

Springtime in the City...

Hi there from the Rutherfords in New York City!

It has been a wild and crazy time for us recently as we have been very busy with lots of work and more work! Even still, we sneak in a few moments with friends and in our backyard to start the gardening process as we have been blessed with a home that allows us to enjoy a bit of nature without having to put our shoes on.

March brought several visitors to our house with the Holsopple Family coming in the first two weekends and the Johnstons arriving the third. We always enjoy visitors and our time with each was special as we saw shows, enjoyed good food and conversation. Then, we headed in to the several weeks of work...

Kurtis held down the fort as Mary took three weeks worth of work at the Signature Theatre with Angels in America and still kept up a position at the millinery shop, making for 80+ hour work weeks and at least 10 hours worth of transit. Kurtis continues to work for various companies such as JCDP, Cedar Lake, Sleep No More Productions and Signature Theatre. He is currently in the midst of a strong month and officially striking Angels in America after a great run with 4 extensions. With all of this, we get very little time together so we enjoy it whenever we can and are looking for a way to work in the theatre together as we have for several years now --- Signature may just be the ticket or there are a few other fun options floating around...more on those as they appear.

Yesterday, we hosted Easter Dinner at our house, with Sarah Bode Clark cooking a wonderful meal and a birthday celebration for her husband, Joe. It was fun to have a group over to our house and nice enough outside to enjoy some backyard time too. Tanya, our landlord and friend, as well as her son Zach and our upstairs roomer, Elyce, joined in the fun and festivities. They have become quite wonderful support for us and, as we all interact frequently, we are developing great relationships.

Though we miss family often, we are truly happy being able to live and work here in the city and hear that there are all sorts of fun (and free) things that await us in the summer!!!

Much love to all,
Mary and Kurtis

P.S. Look for us in mid-June as we plan on returning home for a short visit (and a ten year high school reunion --- eeek!)

P.P. S. A picture story will follow at some point...perhaps after the Kentucky Derby as the hat shop is super busy right now and there should be lots of fun photos from a party we will host for the derby. I really love photos and wish I had some to share with you :)
